How to Add a Server Certificate

A server certificate provides your Windows Internet server with encryption capabilities. The Windows Internet Information Services (IIS) provides a Web host, so you can upload and serve Microsoft-encoded Web pages to users. Encryption services are used to protect private information. You add a server certificate to the website to secure your readers' and customers' private information. The IIS utility provides a simple interface for adding a server certificate.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Administrative Tools." Click "Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager" to open your main IIS console.

    • 2

Click your IIS server name on the left and double-click "Server Certificate" in the center details pane. This opens a certificate wizard.

    • 3
