Works is a home productivity suite created by Microsoft.

Works is a basic productivity suite developed by Microsoft Corporation that consists of word processor, spreadsheet, database, calendar and portfolio programs. According to the Microsoft, Works gives users the resources and templates for creating projects, such as labels, greeting cards, letters and resumes, and for organizing records, home improvements and household budgets. A template for creating customized address labels is subdivided into three different label formats, including multiple entry, return address and return labels.

      Click "Start." Click "All Programs" and then scroll down the list to find and click "Microsoft Works Task Launcher."

      Click "Templates." Scroll down and click "Return address labels."

      Choose from three categories of labels:

      1. multiple-entry labels: creates labels for collections or to organize information

      2. return address labels: copies one address to every label

      3. mailing labels: merges labels with entries from a data source

      Click on the small circle on the left of the type selected.

      Click "OK."

      Choose the correct printer information, either "Laser and Ink Jet" or "Dot Matrix," and click the corresponding dot for the printer type.

      Select which type of product, or brand name, of the blank labels you will use for printing the addresses by clicking the arrow to the right side of the pull-down menu. Choose the product number that corresponds with the blank labels.

      For multiple-entry or return-address labels, enter the address information into each label block individually. The address labels are ready to print.

      If mailing labels are selected, a data source is required to merge information and this will require an address book, a Works database or an Excel spreadsheet. Identify the source of the data from the list and choose accordingly.

      A list of fields will be displayed. Choose the fields to be used on the address label and click "Insert" for each one.

      Click "View Results" to merge data onto labels. These labels are ready to print.

Tips & Warnings

  • All of the information about the type of labels used for printing the addresses will be listed on the packaging of the blank labels.
