Replacing the video card on a Dell Dimension 8400 is easy, and doesn't require you to be an expert with computers. Even if you are only used to connecting or disconnecting your computer, you will be able to replace the video card on your Dimension without much trouble.

      Turn off your computer and unhook all of the cables connected to it.

      Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove all the screws on the back of the tower and set them aside.

      Slide off the side panel of the tower and locate the graphics card. The Dell Dimension 8400 video card will be located on the bottom at the back end of the computer, and will have all of the computer's video input and output ports as part of the body of the video card.

      Remove the screws on the back of the tower that are holding the video card in place, and pop the video card out of the computer.

      Put in your new video card where the old video card was and screw it in place, then replace the side panel and screw it back into place.
