How do I Get a Dell Inspiron 600M to Show BIOS on an External Screen?

When you connect an external monitor to your Dell Inspiron 600M laptop computer, the external unit will be displaying the same information as the internal unit until Windows boots. It is only when Windows boots that the external monitor will be displaying an extension of your regular desktop, should you choose those settings. So if you want to display your laptop's BIOS information on an external screen, all you have to do is connect the screen to your laptop.

Instructions

1. Connect a VGA monitor cable to the back of your Dell Inspiron 600M laptop computer. The 600M has one VGA input located on the back of its case. This input is blue in color.

2. Plug the other end of the same VGA cable into the appropriate input on your external screen. All external computer monitors have at least one VGA input, as VGA is the standard way to connect an external monitor to a computer.

3. Turn on your external screen.

4. Turn on your Dell Inspiron 600M. The unit's internal screen and external screen will be display the same image.

5. Tap "F2." This will display your computer's BIOS information on both the internal and external screens simultaneously.
