Win32 Adware is also known as the Virtumonde Trojan.

Win32 Adware is also known as the Trojan virus Virtumonde. Virtumonde affects computers running Microsoft Windows operating systems. The Trojan pretends to be antivirus or anti-spyware software. Once installed, it produces false malware warnings through pop-ups and web pages, and advertises fake removal software such as AntivirusXP 2008. The main danger of the Trojan is identity theft or loss of funds due to the user purchasing fake software, giving their financial and personal information to hackers. Win32 Adware is deleted with malware removal tools.

Instructions

  1. Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool

      Click the "Start" button, select "All Programs" and then "Windows Update." Follow the onscreen directions to scan your Windows operating system for necessary updates.

      Follow the onscreen directions to download and install the updates. Windows Update is the main resource to update the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool. Close Internet Explorer.

      Click the "Start" button, select "All Programs," "Accessories" and then "Run." Type "MRT" without the quotation marks into the box that appears.

      Click the "Next" button when the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool box appears. Select "Full Scan" and then click the "Next" button.

      Allow the scan to complete. The scan takes several minutes to hours depending on the size and number of storage devices.

      Follow the onscreen directions to remove the Win32 Adware. Click the "Finish" button to close the program.

    VundoFix

    • 7

      Open an Internet Browser. Navigate to the Atribune website and download the Vundofix tool. Take note of the download location.

      Navigate to the folder containing the VundoFix tool. Launch the tool.

      Follow the onscreen directions to scan the computer for Win32 Adware. The scan takes several minutes.

      Allow the scan to complete. Follow the onscreen directions to remove the Win32 Adware and other detected versions of the Virtumonde Trojan. Close VundoFix.

    SmitFraudFix

    • 11

      Open an Internet Browser. Navigate to the Bleeping Computer website and download SmitFraudFix. Take note of the download location.

      Restart the computer. Press the "F8" button when the Windows Splash Screen first appears.

      Select "Safe Mode with Networking" from the menu that appears. Allow Windows to boot into safe mode.

      Navigate to the folder containing the SmitFraudFix program. Launch SmitFraudFix.

      Follow the onscreen directions to conduct a full system scan. The scan takes several minutes.

      Allow the scan to complete. Follow the onscreen directions to remove the Win32 Adware and other detected versions of the Virtumonde Trojan.

    • 17

      Close the SmitFraudFix program. Restart the computer.

  • Never purchase the software advertised by the Virtumonde Trojan. The product is fake and may cause identity theft and loss of funds.

  • Never interrupt SmitFraudFix midscan. Doing so may cause damage to system files.
