How to Set Up an Xbox Wireless Network Adapter
Microsoft's Xbox 360 video game console delivers the latest generation of gaming technology to homes worldwide. Through the console's Xbox Live subscription service, players also have access to additional features. Xbox Live makes it possible to connect online and compete with fellow gamers worldwide and to download content right to your console. Music, movies, TV shows and games are all at your fingertips. Using your Xbox Live subscription requires an Internet signal to your Xbox 360, which you can set up with the console's wireless networking adapter.

Attach the wireless network adapter to the rear of your Xbox 360. Gently press the adapter into the grooved tabs specifically sized for it, located just above the USB port. Plug the adapter's USB connector into the USB port. Open the antennae connected to the network adapter so they point up.

Turn on your Xbox 360. Look at the light on the network adapter to see if it turns green. A green light means that your system is configured and ready for play.

Use your controller to navigate to the "Systems" tab within the Xbox 360 settings. Select "Edit Settings," then press the "A" button on your controller to enter the Settings menu. Select the option marked "Wireless Mode," then press "A" again to configure your wireless connection.

Review the list of wireless connections available to your Xbox 360. Select the best quality connection emanating from your home, visible by the number of connection bars lit up. Press "A" to apply your choice, then choose the "Test Xbox Live" option on the setting confirmation screen to ensure the connection works. A green dot will show up next to the word "Link" at the bottom of your screen when the wireless Internet connection is properly detected.

Tips & Warnings
Give your Xbox 360 a little space from your other electronic components. Internet signals can be inhibited by metal objects, interfering with your connection stability. Moving the console just a few inches from your television or other components can greatly improve your Internet connectivity.
Your Internet connection must already be transmitted via wireless routing to use the Xbox 360 wireless network adapter. Refer to your router's manual for instructions on how to transmit your wireless signal.
The Xbox 360 wireless network adapter is typically sold separately from the console. Purchase yours online, or at any retailer that carries Xbox products.
Xbox Live is a paid subscription service. Installing the Xbox 360 wireless network adapter won't give you Xbox Live access without an account in good standing.
