How to Hook a Flat Panel Monitor to a DVD Player
Instead of spending money on a new TV, why not hook up your DVD player to your PC monitor? You can get the same quality image as on a TV screen. A PC monitor and a TV are virtually the same thing--the only difference is a PC monitor does not have a tuner installed. Monitors now accept many different inputs than standard VGA. Using your DVD player with a monitor can save both space and money.

Turn on both your DVD player and your monitor and wait for an image to appear. It should not take longer than a few seconds. If no image appears, it may be necessary to navigate the monitor menu system and change the input to HDMI instead of the default VGA input.

Tips & Warnings
HDMI cables are one of the easiest cables to use as they carry both audio and video.
DVI cables can be used exactly the same if the DVD player and monitor both support DVI. DVI is an alternate to HDMI.
You may need to switch the input on your monitor through the menu system. While straight forward on most monitors, it makes the process much easier if you have your monitor user manual available.
