How to Build a Photo Gallery Web Site

When you want to share your pictures with others, a website is a cheap or free alternative to making a photo album that you can share in person. You can share an online photo album with friends and family despite location or time zones. Edit online photo galleries in terms of color, themes and pictures, if desired. It's simple to make a photo gallery website, as free templates can put your gallery online within hours.

Instructions

1. Register for a free website with one of the many options available on the Internet, such as Webs or Weebly. Provide an email and a password when registering.

2. Select the name of your website. This will be part of your domain, so choose something simple so people can easily find your website. The title that appears in the website banner can be different.

3. Select an available template. Free website programs offer a few templates and colors to choose from, so you can create a website that suits your photo gallery needs.

4. Upload your pictures for your photo gallery on to the computer. If the pictures you want to use are in print, scan them on to the computer using a scanner. Save them in a folder on the desktop, where you can easily locate them.

5. Select the photo gallery or photo album option in the website template menu. This is a common feature in the template versions, along with forums and blogs. A new template will appear.

6. Click on the button that indicates adding or uploading pictures. You can either upload all of your pictures at once or individually.

7. Upload pictures into the photo gallery and arrange them by chronological order or events.

8. Write any citations for the pictures to complete the photo gallery. Such examples include, "This picture was taken during a family vacation in 2003" or anything that helps explain the context of the pictures.

9. Create links between photo gallery pages, if your gallery is several pages long. Click on the button that suggests adding or creating links. You may have to write "Next" and create the link through the word. Highlight your chosen word and click on the link button. Select the webpage the word should link to. Click done or OK.

10. Save the photo gallery and write down the domain of your online photo gallery. Share it with friends and family.
