How to Calculate Your Take Home Pay in Texas

If you are trying to make out a monthly budget for your family in Texas, knowing your amount of take home pay can be beneficial. Your take home pay amount is the amount of money you earn each pay period after taxes. While it can be difficult to calculate your take home pay with an actual calculator, there is a way to just plug in some numbers and have the amount automatically calculated for you.

Instructions

1. Visit the Paycheck City website (see Resources).

2. Look at the "Basic" calculators section. You can choose either "Hourly Paycheck Calculator" or "Salary Paycheck Calculator." Click the one that applies to you.

3. Use the state drop-down box at the top of the calculator to select "Texas." (The default state is Arizona.)

4. Enter in your hours worked and hourly amount for the hourly calculator, or your salary amount for the salary calculator. Choose your pay frequency, federal filing status and number of federal allowances in the "General information" section. You can click on any of the underlined items for help.

5. Key in any other deductions, such as medical benefits or 401K deductions, in the "Voluntary information" section. You can leave this blank if you don't have any.

6. Click on "Calculate" to see your take home pay results. The results may vary slightly from your actual take home pay if you or your employer enters in different numbers.
