Some laptops and PCs, like HPs and Sony Vaio notebooks, are shipped with a "Recovery Partition" instead of a set of Windows installation CDs or recovery discs. The recovery applications for these computers will allow the user to create a set of backup recovery discs from the recovery partition. However, in most cases the disc creation program will only run one time. PC and laptop manufacturers suggest that the backup discs be created as soon as possible once the machine is received by the consumer.
