Table Lamp Repair
Table lamps will every so often get knocked down or stop working for no apparent reason. Obviously, the reason exists and it does not take much effort to identify the root of the problem. The problem can be located in the switch, the socket, etc. Prior to simply throwing the lamp away, try and fix the problem and the lamp may serve you for a long time to come. Does this Spark an idea?

Unplug the lamp and wait for the light bulb to cool down. Grab the bulb with your hands and screw it in a bit harder. This is a common problem, which is indicated by the blinking light coming out of the lamp.

Remove the bulb if the problem is not solved and screw in a new one. If the problem persists, check the wall socket and observe to see whether the fuse has blown. Run over the cables of the lamp with your hands to see if they are damaged and also inspect the lamp switches for damage.

Take off the lampshade and unscrew the light bulb. Remove the socket shell by pulling and twisting it off in a counterclockwise direction.

Grab hold of the wire stripper and take 1 inch off the insulation wire sticking out from the base of the socket. Connect the wires as they were before and position the new socket shell. Screw in a new light bulb and plug in the lamp again, in order to test it.

Use pliers to adjust the deformed lamp harp or simply purchase a new one of the same shape and size.
