How to Decorate for a Wedding Ceremony & Ideas

A theme will help in decorating for a wedding.

Choosing the right decorations is one of the most important steps in the wedding planning process. The music, floral arrangements and level of formality will set the tone for the entire ceremony. When your guests walk first enter the room, the appearance will set their expectations for the whole day. A few simple steps will ensure that your wedding is beautifully executed and remembered for years to come.

   Work with your setting to choose your color palette. If you're getting married on the beach, start with blue from the water and work your way from there, choosing complementary colors that suit your taste. Keep the level of formality in mind. For example, if it's a casual wedding, go with yellow; for more formal occasions, choose gold or champagne.

2. Stick with your theme. This will help when it comes to choosing those all-important accents. Your theme can be anything as long as there is a unifying element to it. Romantic, stripes or preppy are all great themes that will help bring your design together.

   Take inspiration from the seasons. A fall wedding, for example, is the perfect time for orange brown and green accents. Choose candles with branches and leaves in them. A bright, white wedding that might look stunning in the spring could look washed out in winter, so look at the calendar and see what nature gives you to work with.

4. Incorporate those necessary elements into your design. At the ceremony, for example, you could have rows of chairs that just blend in. Instead, attach a bow or another accessory to the back of the chairs. A table could be just a table, or it could be another beautiful addition to the decor.

   Repeat, repeat, repeat. If you decide to use stripes in your decor, for example, add the same or similar striped ribbons to doorways, centerpieces, tables, chairs, flower arrangements...pretty much anything you can think of! Using several identical small details can have a much bigger impact than one large display.
