Flash media can be embedded into web pages to show video or animation. If you see an embedded Flash video on a web page, you might want to save it so you can view it from your hard drive later. Fortunately, the web browser that comes built into Windows Vista--Internet Explorer 7--has a handy tool that allows you to see and download any embedded media on the web page you are visiting.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Internet Explorer 7 and browse to a web page with embedded Flash media.

    • 2

Click the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options."

    • 3

Click the "Settings" button under the "Temporary Internet Files" subheading, on the "General" tab.

    • 4

Click the "View Files" button. This will open a window where you can view all of the latest files that your browser has download from web pages you've browsed recently.

    • 5

Click the "View" menu and hover your cursor over "Arrange icons by," then click "Type."

    • 6

Use the scrollbar on the right side of the window to scroll down to the "Shockwave Flash Object" file type group. The Flash object should have a file extension of "SWF." Right click on the name of the Flash movie you want to save and click "Copy."

    • 7

Open the file folder on your computer where you want to save the Flash movie file. Click the "Edit" menu at the top of the screen and click "Paste" to copy the file to the directory, effectively saving the Flash file for future use.
