Yahoo Audibles Won't Load

If loading Yahoo! Audibles makes you look like this, troubleshoot the problem.

Emoticons, or emotional icons, have long been an instant messaging staple. Yahoo! Audibles are animated versions of emoticons that anyone using Yahoo! Messenger can use, providing that all those chatting have them turned on. If you're having troubles getting the Audibles to load, take some time to troubleshoot them and you'll be virtually emoting again in minutes.

Instructions

1. Make sure that everyone participating in the Yahoo! instant messaging session has Audibles enabled. Open Yahoo! Messenger and click "Preferences." Click "Messages" and select "Enable Audibles." Hit "OK."

2. Check to see what version of Adobe Flash Player you have, as Yahoo! Audibles only works on version 8.0 or higher. Exit Yahoo! Messenger if you're running an older version and download and install the latest one for free from the Adobe site (see Resources).

3. Make sure that Yahoo! Audibles isn't being blocked by your firewall. Open your firewall program and click "Manage Firewall." Select "Program Rules" or "Manage Programs." Scroll to Yahoo! Messenger and click "Allow." Open Yahoo! Messenger and try to load Audibles.
