How to Assemble Wedding Programs

How to Assemble Wedding Programs thumbnail
In addition to providing needed information, wedding programs make a nice keepsake.

A wedding program is typically given out to each guest as they arrive for the ceremony. It provides information for the guests regarding the members of the wedding party and the schedule for the ceremony. It also gives the bride and groom an opportunity to thank the guests for coming to the wedding. For religious services, the wedding program can also provide instructions as to when to stand or sing for guests who may be unfamiliar with the type of service being held.

Instructions

    • 1

Create the program. Regardless of the size or format you choose, you will need to create the program on a computer. Type in all the needed information, and have it carefully proofread prior to printing in quantity. Keep a master copy of the completed program saved on your computer in case new programs need to be printed for some reason.

    • 2

Print the program pages. This can either be done on your home computer; or you can save the program onto a CD or flash drive and take it to a printing center. If the program is several pages long, keep them organized.

    • 3

Assemble the pages of the program, so they are in the order you want them to be when they are finished. If you have them printed at a printing center, they would be able to print the pages, so that they are already in the appropriate order.

    • 4

Fold the programs down the center, so they open in book form. To ensure the fold stays while you finish assembling the programs, crease the fold.

    • 5

Punch two holes in the crease of the fold. One hole should be in the top half of the fold, and the other hole should be in the bottom half of the fold.

    • 6

Cut the ribbon in pieces approximately 10 inches long. Cut enough ribbons to use one for each program.

    • 7

Slide one end of a piece of ribbon through the bottom hole in the fold of the program. The ribbon should go through the hole from back to front. Take the same end and slide it through the second hole at the top of the fold in the program. When you are done, both of the ribbon ends should be in the back of the program.

    • 8

Tie the two ribbon ends together. Tie the ribbons in a secure bow, so they are attractive and hold the program together.

Tips & Warnings

  • Have several people proofread the programs prior to having them printed. This will save the time and energy of having to reprint them all due to some typing mistakes.

  • Don't assume it will be less expensive to print the programs at home. Get a quote from a printing center; then compare it to your cost on paper and ink, as well as the time it will take you to do it.
