How to Make a Halo LEGO Shade Turret

The Covenant forces will stop at nothing to take out Master Chief and that includes building impressive weaponry to defeat the hero of the “Halo” series. One piece of weaponry is the Shade Turret, a mounted gut that hovers above a legged base. You can recreate this weapon with LEGO bricks. The LEGO model has 360-degree rotation so that wherever your LEGO master chief goes, the guns of the Shade Turret will follow.

Instructions

  1. Shade Turret Base

    • 1

Attach the tops of two 1-by-5-by-4 arch pieces using a 1-by-8 plate.

    • 2

Place a 1-by-4 plate on the top front two spaces of two additional 1-by-5-by-4 arches.

    • 3

Arrange the two free-standing arches so that the protruding plate pieces line up against the fifth space from the left of the 1-by-8 plate that connects the other two arches.

    • 4

Attach a 4-by-4 frame plate on top of the intersection of the arches. The plate will hold the freestanding arches together.

    • 5

Place a 2-by-2 turntable in the center of the frame. Attach a clear, 2-by-2 round brick onto the turntable to simulate the hover effect of the turret.

    Shade Turret Cockpit

    • 6

Attach three 2-by-2 roof tiles across one end of a 6-by-6 plate. The tiles should angle up toward the center of the plate. Attach three additional roof tiles to the opposite side of the plate, angling up to the center.

    • 7

Attach one additional roof tile on the two open ends of the plate, angling up toward the center. A 2-by-2 area of the plate will be left open as a cockpit.

    • 8

Attach a 5-by-4-by-2 clear, round wall element to the center of one side of the cockpit.

    • 9

Attach one 1-by-8 brick on each side of the clear wall, extending forward. Place one 1-by-4 brick on top of the 1-by-8 brick on each side, flush against the cockpit. These act as guns.

    • 10

Place the cockpit on top of the 2-by-2 round brick of the base. Rotate the cockpit around the base to aim.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use dark purple or red LEGO bricks for the Shade Turret.

  • Position the Shade Turret on a large LEGO plate to simulate the turret's inability to move.
