How to Use Straight Line Sonic Laser Tape
Irwin's Strait-Line Sonic Laser Tape measures distances up to 50 feet with its laser target. It has the ability to measure width and length, plus the volume or area of a space. Five memory storage settings allow you to save measurements for later calculations. Use the Sonic Laser Tape for taking measurements to determine the amounts of building materials, such as paint, wallpaper and tile, needed to complete your project. Does this Spark an idea?

Press "Read" to turn on the laser tape.

Press "Sel" and use the arrow buttons to scroll through the length, area, volume, units, memory store and memory retrieve settings. Press "Sel" again to select the appropriate setting.

Press "Sel" and use the arrow buttons to scroll through the inches, feet, yards, centimeters and meters measurement settings. Press "Sel" again to select the appropriate setting for your measurements.

Place the tape against the item to be measured. For example, if measuring a wall's length, select "L" and place the tape perpendicular against the wall. Press "Read" and wait for the length to display. When measuring the area or volume, select "A" or "V", take the first measurement and immediately take the next measurement by pressing "Read" after the first measurement appears. The tape automatically records each measurement and calculates the total when you are finished.

Record a measurement by pressing "Sel" and scrolling through until one of the memory buttons ("M1-M5") appears. Press "Sel" again to record the measurement.

Press "Sel" and use the arrows to scroll through to your memory setting when you choose to retrieve it. Press "Sel" again to select the memory setting.

Add or subtract measurements by taking the first measurement, pressing "+" or "-" and taking the final measurement. The bottom window now supplies the total.
