How to Make a Tornado Simulator

Making a tornado out of two 2-liter soda bottles is a scientific experiment that kids of all ages will enjoy. This is a very simple project with minimal preparation needed.       Wash two 2-liter soda bottles. Use a bit of dish soap and swish it around inside each bottle. Rinse the bottles thoroughly.

      Fill one of the bottles 3/4 of the way full with water. Put in a few drops of food coloring. Twist one end of the bottle connector tightly onto the bottle.

      Tip the empty bottle upside down. Place the opening into the other end of the bottle connector. Twist the bottle to tighten it onto the connector.

      Turn the connected bottles over so that the bottle full of water is on top. Shake them in a rapid circular motion. The water inside will rotate and form a tornado as it exits through the connector into the empty bottle.
