Microsoft Word 2007 Won't Automatically Insert the Current Date

Word 2007 is a popular word processing editor included in the Microsoft Office package. The program allows a user to insert the current date and time into a document. By default, Word 2007 uses the static date option; the inserted values will not ever change. To make the editor automatically update the document with the current date, you have to use the dynamic option by checking a special box in the Word menu.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Microsoft Word 2007. Then press "Ctrl" and "O" on the keyboard to open a Word document.

    • 2

Scroll the document down or up to find a place where you need to insert the date.

    • 3

Click the program toolbar "Insert," and then select "Date & Time" in the section "Text."

    • 4

Select a desired format for the date, for example, "1-Aug-10," from the list of available formats.

    • 5

Click on the box "Update automatically," and click "OK."
