Create a webpage using MS Word 2007.

Microsoft Word is one of the most versatile applications within the Microsoft Office 2007 suite. In addition to being intuitive, MS Word has multiple capabilities, including the ability to produce attractive web pages fairly easily. Having a word processor that doubles as a web authoring tool, complete with spell checker and thesaurus can be quite handy. You can design your page for both print and online, format a precise layout, add graphics and finish your document as an HTML page complete with working hyperlinks and URL addresses.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Microsoft Word 2007 and start the layout of your new page. You can use a blank page or an available template.

    • 2

Design your page by constructing the layout as it will appear on the Web by clicking the "Page Layout" tab on the main menu. The overall look of your page can be customized using the "Themes" menu on the "Page Layout" tab. Choose a font style, size and color from the "Font" sub-selection panel on the "Home" tab.

    • 3

Type or copy your content verbiage in the body of the page and run the spell check by clicking the Spelling and Grammar icon after selecting the "Review" tab.

    • 4

Insert hyperlinks by highlighting the desired text and right-clicking the selection. The Hyperlink dialog panel appears. Ensure that the "From Existing File or Web Page" selection is highlighted. Select "Hyperlink..." from the drop-down menu and enter the URL address in the address text entry field and click "OK." The hyperlink is created. Repeat this same step to create as many hyperlinks as you choose.

    • 5

Save the page for the Web by clicking the "File" tab and selecting "Save As." From the drop-down field, choose "Web Page." Type the file name for the page in the "File name" text entry field and enter the name of the directory where you wish to keep your new web page.

    • 6

Navigate to the directory that contains the file and double-click it to test your page.

Tips & Warnings

  • Tip: You can add a mailto: link by entering an email address, highlighting it and right-clicking the selection to bring up the drop-down menu and selecting "Hyperlink" as you did in Step 4. This time, choose "Email Address" from the subpanel. This will provide the viewer with an email form for quick contact. This can be a link in the "Contact Us" section of your web page.
