More and more people are opting to distribute CD-ROM business cards.

Business cards in today's high-technology world must do more than provide a company's name, phone number and address to potential clients. Business cards must creatively and effectively represent a company and its services. One growing trend is to distribute business cards on a CD-ROM, which can also contain important promotional materials. For instance, CD-ROM business cards can allow others to view PDF documents, PowerPoint presentations and brochures about your services simply by inserting your business card into a computer. Many companies create CD business cards for clients. You can also make your own using the proper software and materials.

Instructions

  1. How to Make Your Own CD Business Cards

    • 1

Purchase blank business card-sized CD-ROMs. Some office supply stores offer these special-sized CDs along with a starter kit of labels and wallets, or they can custom order them upon request. Online suppliers include Wizbit Internet Services and Multishape CD-ROM.

    • 2

Purchase business card-sized stick-on labels at your local office supply store. These labels will be inserted onto the face of the CD-ROM to state your company's name and contact information. Make certain the labels include a circular hole in the center of each label to accommodate the CD-ROM's design.

    • 3

Create the CD label. The label should be designed just as any regular business card using software specific to a CD-shaped business card. These programs include PressIt and Avery DesignPro. Create a new document and select the CD Business Card label from the templates available. Select the design and template that you like best, and replace the filler text with your contact information.

    • 4

Insert a CD into your CD-recordable drive. Using Windows, drag and drop the marketing files you wish to include on the CD, such as a PDF brochure about your company or services. Once all files have been added to the CD, burn the disk, making certain to finalize it for use in all computers.

    • 5

Verify the contents of the CD on another computer before placing a label on it. If you receive an error message or notice that the disk is not properly formatted, re-insert it into the computer on which it was burned, and burn and finalize it again.

    • 6

Place the label onto the face of the CD-ROM and then protect it by inserting it into a CD wallet. It is ready to distribute to networking contacts.

Tips & Warnings

  • Include only PDF documents on the CD you wish to distribute. PDFs can be easily accessed by most computers, and if not, the Adobe Acrobat Reader software is available for a free download. Only include such documents as PowerPoint presentations if you are certain the recipient of your business card has the software to view the file.
