How Do I Buff Nails Using a Portable Manicure Set?
Many portable manicure kits contain a nail buffer, which is a block-shaped object with rough sides that is used by professional manicurists. Each side of a buffer has a different texture. The block removes bumps, ridges and other problems on the nail to help your manicure last longer. Use a nail buffer on both fingernails and toenails before applying nail polish. The nails become shiny once they are buffed. Nail buffing takes five to 10 minutes and will make nail polish more even, or simply give a nice finish to natural nails. Does this Spark an idea?

Wet a paper towel with nail polish remover. Wipe off any nail polish from your nails and wash your hands.

2
Sand your nails using small strokes with the coarse side of the buffer. Only use one direction to keep an even texture. Two to six strokes is sufficient. Because the kit is portable, the block may be smaller than those found in a nail salon.

Tips & Warnings
Buffing nails causes heat to build up from friction. According to "Nail Care," it can cause a friction burn. If you feel heat building up, stop buffing for two to three minutes to allow nails time to cool. Start again, if necessary.
