How to Stop Trend Micro at the Startup thumbnail
Trend Micro software can prevent viruses and other PC problems.

One of the more common problems that PC users experience is a slow boot time. This is typically caused by too many programs attempting to load at start-up. If you've noticed that your Trend Micro software has caused a slower-than-usual start-up time, then it may be time to stop Trend Micro from loading at start-up by disabling it. Luckily, disabling a program at start-up is made easy by the System Configuration Utility.

Instructions

    • 1

      Click "Start" then "Run."

    • 2

Type "msconfig" minus the quotes and click "OK." The System Configuration Utility will then appear.

    • 3

Click the "Startup" tab on the System Configuration Utility window. Navigate to "C:\Program Files\Trend Micro."

    • 4

Click the box next to "Trend Micro Antivirus" to unselect it and then click "OK."

    • 5

Close System Configuration Utility by clicking the red "X" at the top right of the screen.

    • 6

Restart the computer. When the computer reboots, the System Configuration Utility will load. Click the box next to "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" and then click "OK" to keep the utility from running each time you turn on the computer.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't forget to load Trend Micro when you want to use it. As you've chosen to stop Trend Micro at start-up, it will not automatically load. You'll need to launch the program each time you turn on the computer so that it will continue to protect your PC.
