How to Change the Door Locks on a Camry

How to Change the Door Locks on a Camry thumbnail
Toyota Camrys have two different types of door locks, electric or manual.

Two kinds of locks can be used in a Camry, manual and electric. Both kinds can be replaced in the same manner. The manual lock has a push-pull knob. The electric door lock has an actuator; it can be operated with a key on the outside and a switch on the inside. The tumblers are the same in both the electric and manual versions. The new lock assembly will come with two keys, or you can go to a locksmith and have him make your original key fit the new assembly. Before you disassemble the door, ensure that your manual push-pull knob will unlock the door or that your electronic actuator works with the inside switch.

Insert the screwdriver next to the push pin and pry the pin. But be careful. Applying too much pressure will crack the plastic door panel. The bottom of the door has two or three push pins; Follow the same procedure with the two or three push pins at the bottom of the door.
