1
Purchase compatible memory for the notebook. This can be determined by visiting Acer's web site and looking up the information for your Acer notebook model. The memory itself may be purchased online or in specific electronics stores.
-
2
Turn off your computer. Unplug the AC-adapter from the laptop.

3
Close the screen and flip the laptop over so that the bottom is facing up. Remove the laptop's batter by sliding the battery holder to the right. Touch a metal surface to ground yourself against static electricity.
-
4
Locate the memory module cover. The cover will usually have two or three screws holding it in place. If you are confused as to where the cover is, consult your Acer notebook's manual online.
-
5
Remove the screws holding the memory module cover by using the Phillips or flathead screwdriver. Lift the cover up to remove it.
-
6
Push the memory module down to unlock it. Gently remove the memory module from the holder. Repeat the process if you will be adding more than one memory module.
-
7
Insert the new memory module into the memory module holder at a 45-degree angle. Push the memory module into place so that it is firmly in the holder. Repeat the process if you are adding more than one memory module.
-
8
Replace the memory module cover. Insert the screws and tighten them so that they are holding the memory module firmly in place.
-
9
Put the battery back into the battery holder.
-
10
Turn the notebook on to complete the installation process. The notebook will immediately pick up on the additional memory module.
