Connect your keyboard to your TV and send e-mails from your couch.

Hooking your computer to the TV will give you the freedom of using your TV's remote control to change the volume of the computer. Adding a wireless keyboard to the TV monitor will allow you to enjoy the big display of your TV from across the room. You will be able to have your keyboard on your couch with the other remotes and be able to switch from watching TV to sending e-mail within seconds.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the HDMI cable into the HDMI port in the back of the computer and the other end into the back of the TV. The HDMI cable will transfer both video display and sound from the computer to the TV. You may need to restart the computer so it can recognize the TV as the monitor. Press the HDMI setting on the TV to display the HDMI feed from the computer.

Turn the wireless keyboard over, remove the battery cover and insert the required number of batteries into the keyboard. A wireless keyboard needs to run on batteries, as it does not plug into anything to give it power.

    • 3

Connect the wireless USB signal catcher into a USB port on the computer. You will want to consider the signal strength of the wireless keyboard when you place the signal catcher. Plugging it in the front of the computer will be less visually appealing and may get bumped by pets and people, but it will offer the strongest signal range. Plugging it into a USB port in the back of the computer will look better, but it will limit the signal range.

    • 4

Press the sync button on the USB signal catcher and the sync button on the keyboard. You will have a limited amount of time where you must press the buttons to sync the keyboard with the signal catcher. Start typing on the keyboard to see if the keyboard and signal catcher are in sync. If not, continue the sync process until it works. During the syncing process, you should keep the keyboard close to the signal catcher to increase the chances of the signal working.

Tips & Warnings

  • After you have connected the wireless keyboard, go around the house and test the signal range.
