How to Recover From a Windows XP Crash
Microsoft's Windows XP generally runs smoothly and efficiently. Unfortunately, the operating system can occasionally crash. In this event, you may find yourself in a panic about what to do. Choose your restore date. You should use a date before your crash; however, try not to go back far beyond it. The further back you go, the fewer programs and documents you have on your machine after the process.

Click "OK" on the final page of restoration. Your computer reboots on its own. At this point, you are able to use the computer in the condition it was in at the time of your restoration.

Try booting in safe mode if you could not complete the process. Restart your computer, press "F8" before the Windows screen appears. Choose "Boot in Safe Mode" and try the above steps.
