Fix a Windows XP Internet connection using Windows applications.

Internet connections come in different varieties, some of which have been made possible by the advent of broadband and wireless technologies. Windows XP is the first Microsoft operating system to fully embrace wireless connections and has built-in features to connect to the Internet. There are problems that can occur due to software instability, user error and changes to operating system settings from malicious programs. None of these changes are irreversible, and Microsoft allows you to diagnose and repair network settings with automated applications.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Start" button found in the main menu bar. Select "Control Panel" then double-click on "Network and Internet Connections."

    • 2

Right-click on your network connection, which can be either "Local Area Connection" or "Wireless Network Connection."

    • 3

Select "Repair" and allow Windows to start the automated repair process. Allow the process to complete before testing your Internet connection.
