How to Print Wedding Invitation Cards
For couples on a tight budget, printing wedding invitation cards at home provides an appealing alternative to purchasing traditional invitations. Printing wedding invitation cards at home requires nothing more than a home printer and basic card stock, although it also leaves room for creativity and embellished designs. Couples can choose paper to match the colors of their wedding and layer pieces together, attaching them with glue or ribbon, to make the final invitations.

1
Purchase paper and envelopes for your wedding invitations. Many stores and websites sell kits for printing wedding invitations with matching paper and envelopes. The paper in these kits is often embossed or otherwise decorated with wedding-related themes and images. Alternately, purchase plain paper and envelopes at least one-eighth of an inch larger in each dimension than the invitation will be.

2
Open a word processing program and set the page size to the size of the paper you will be using for your wedding invitations. Set the margins as well, making sure to leave enough room so you do not print over decorative elements on the paper you have chosen. Some invitation kits include special software or templates that you can use to set up the text of the invitation instead of using a basic word processor.

3
Type the text of your invitation so it all fits within the space you have to work with. The wording of your invitation varies depending on who is hosting the wedding and how formal you would like your invitation to sound. Many wedding websites, including The Knot, offer samples of wedding invitation wording.

Change the font and size of the words on the invitation to fit your tastes. Traditionally the names of the bride and groom may be larger and in a different font than the rest of the text on the invitation.
-
5
Print a sample invitation on plain white printer paper. This allows you to look it over for errors and make sure everything appears the same off-screen as you intended. You can also lay the white paper over the paper for your invitation and look through it to see if the invitation wording will fit properly.
-
6
Print one invitation onto the paper you have chosen for your wedding invitations. Have somebody else proofread it, looking at each and every word to make sure it is spelled correctly and nothing was left out.
-
7
Print the remainder of your wedding invitation cards. Check periodically while they are printing to ensure that the paper is not getting jammed in the printer and that they all look as you intended.

Tips & Warnings
Weigh a completed invitation and envelope at the post office before purchasing stamps. Wedding invitations on heavy paper, in multiple envelopes or with many enclosures may require extra postage.
