How to Create a Residential Lease for Free
One way to earn money is to rent out a place of residence to a prospective tenant. More people are becoming landlords in their spare time and choosing not to use a realtor or property manager in the process. In order to rent a residence, there are certain things you need to do, including knowing how to prepare a lease. Fortunately, you do not need to have experience renting or a legal background to write up a lease.

Go to the Internet Legal Research Group's PublicLegal website. Scroll down and click on "ILRG Legal Forms Archive."

Select "Leases and Real Estate" under the heading "Business." Select "Agreement to Lease (Residential lease)." Click the state where the rental property is located.

Select the text containing the actual lease, using your mouse. Copy the text (using Windows CTRL - C and Mac Command-C). Paste the text into your word processing program. These forms are not protected by copyright, thus allowed to be copied. Make the necessary edits such entering in the proper address and rental dates as well as the names of the lessee and lessor. Edit any part of the lease that is not relevant to the property you are renting.

Visit the Lectric Law website. Scroll down to locate and click on "Free Forms Room." On the next page, click on "Business and General." Scroll down to "Rental/Lease Agreement, Furnished House" and click on it. Copy and paste the lease text into a word processor. Edit the lease, removing irrelevant information and adding relevant portions.
