How to Open Windows NT 4 Event Viewer

The Windows NT event viewer enables users to view the special events that are written to the log file.

Windows records special events that occur on the computer in an event log. This is useful for security monitoring and when trying to diagnose a system or application failure. The Windows NT Event Viewer is the system tool that is used to review these event logs.

Instructions

1. Click on "Start," then on "Programs."

2. Select "Administrative Tools."

3. Click on "Event Viewer." This loads the event logs. Each event in the log will accompany an icon to indicate the level of the event. The blue icons signal "Information," the yellow icons indicate "Warning" and the red icons mean "Failure."
