Instructions on How to Assemble a Pacific Drum Set thumbnail
A drummer plays an assembled drum set.

A Pacific drum set consists of two rack toms, floor tom, bass drum and a snare drum. In addition to this are the high-hat cymbal and ride cymbal, their stands, and the mounting hardware to connect the drums together. According to Musicdistributorsworldwide.com, all you need to assemble your Pacific drum set is a large space to organize all the parts, and a drum key. Drum keys are a special tool shaped to tighten nuts on drums; typically, they come with your drum set.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the drum heads on each drum. The heads will have labels that tell you which drum they belong to, and whether they are the top or bottom head. You can also use your eye to match each drum head with the drum size it goes with.

    • 2

Secure the drum heads by attaching two rims to each drum. Each different-sized rim is identical, and can be placed on either the top or bottom of the drum. Attach the rim by screwing each nut on it into the corresponding lugs on the shells of the drums with your drum key.

    • 3

Insert the two rack tom arms into the female end of each rack tom holder. Tighten these by screwing in the attached wing nut. Once secure, place these rods into the bass drum, tightening them with the nuts on the bass drum.

    • 4

Assemble the legs for the floor tom by placing each floor tom leg into one of the three floor tom leg holders on the drum. Tighten these with the attached wing nuts for each.

    • 5

Place the bass drum pedal at the bottom of the bass drum and attach it using the clip, which tightens onto the drum's rim.

    • 6

Place the ride and high-hat cymbals on their stands by removing the wing nut from each stand, placing the cymbals on the stand and tightening the nut back on.

Tips & Warnings

  • There is no right amount to tighten the rims of your drums. The tighter they are, however, the higher pitched the drum will be, and the looser the lower pitch will be.

  • Apply masking tape or fabric to drum heads to dampen the ringing sound until desired.

  • Tighten the rim of each drum in a star-shaped pattern, similar to a car wheel. This insures that each side of the drum is experiencing equal pressure and will not break.
