How to Attach a Net to a Basketball Hoop
While basketball is a sport with different positions and complicated plays, the overall goal is simple--get the ball through the hoop more than the other team. The net is an important part of the game both for literal and strategic reasons. Being able to properly string a net up is relatively easy once the basics are understood.

1
Climb up a ladder placed under the rim. Make sure that the ladder is the right height to allow you to reach the rim safely.
-
2
Take one strand of the net firmly with one hand holding each side of the strand. The strands are the longest loops of the net. When you bring the strand to the hook, the net should be inside the hoop. If it isn't, you are putting it on backwards.

Loop the strand around the metal hooks. Most hoops have double hooks that face one another. The outer hook will likely be bigger and will face toward the inside of the hoop. The second, smaller hook will away from the hoop. Loop around the first hook and then bring the strand over the second hook and let it rest.

Repeat this process for each of the hooks on the rim.

Tips & Warnings
Some outdoor hoops may have detachable hooks but they still work the same as regular hooks. These hooks can look like tongs, with two on the outside facing inward to the hoop and third facing out in between.
