How to Troubleshoot Outgoing Faxes on the HP LaserJet 1312
The Hewlett Packard (HP) LaserJet CM1312 is a full-color multi-function laser printer capable of sending faxes. Problems sending faxes with the HP LaserJet CM1312 can be related to the document stopping feeding in the middle of faxing; faxes stopping during sending; sent faxes not arriving at the respondent's fax machine; and low memory errors, amongst other things. Outgoing fax problems on the HP LaserJet CM1312 can be rectified by following some troubleshooting steps.

1
Press "Cancel" and try faxing shorter media if the fax stops in the middle of feeding. The HP LaserJet CM1312 can only handle page lengths shorter then 15 inches. Print the document on shorter media like legal or letter sized paper and try the fax again.

2
Plug the LaserJet into a phone line if the fax won't provide a dial tone when you press "Start Fax" and turn up the volume. Take a look at the back of the HP LaserJet CM1312 and identify the phone cable (it's the thinner of the likely two cables back there). Make sure it's plugged in. Try a different cable if it is, and you continue to have problems obtaining a dial tone. The wires can break inside the cable.

3
Send the fax to another fax machine if you can't get the fax to go through. The original receiving party may have a problem, and by trying a different machine, you can test that.
-
4
Call the receiving party and verify that his machine is switched on if faxes still won't go through. Make sure the receiving machine has paper in it.
-
5
Divide a large fax into smaller sections and fax the sections individually if the control panel on the HP LaserJet CM1312 shows a low-memory error. The fax might be too large, or the resolution of the original document may be too high.
