How to Create a Goal Chart
Many times, people set goals and then forget about them, or they put their goals on the back-burner to accomplish other, more pressing issues. To keep up with your goals, consider writing them down and referring to them on a daily basis. A goal chart provides a clear overview of your goals, and when placed in an area where you work, can keep you on track toward reaching those goals.

1
Write down the main goal you want to achieve on a piece of paper. For example, your goal could be to create a budget for your organization's marketing department. Now, list all of the sub-goals that you need to complete to reach that goal. For example, you might need to hold a major meeting with the marketing department, figure out what the marketing department already spends money on, analyze how money is currently being spent, etc. For each goal, write down a target completion date.

2
Label the top of your poster with the main goal in large words with a marker. Write the target completion date to the right of the goal in parenthesis with a pen. Place the ruler directly underneath the main goal and draw a line under the main goal with marker.

3
Measure down one inch with the ruler on the left side of the page and create a half-inch square check box. To the right of the check box, write down your first sub-goal in pen, and write the sub-goals target completion dates in parenthesis. Measure a half inch between each goal, and continue writing out all of the sub-goals of your main goal.
-
4
Tape your marker to the bottom of your poster. You will use this marker to fill in the check boxes next to your sub-goals when you complete them.
-
5
Hang your goal chart in a visible, frequented area. Keeping the chart in sight will help remind you of what your goals are and what you should be focusing on.
