How to Replace a Key on a Gateway Laptop

A Gateway laptop is a portable computer designed by the Gateway corporation. If your Gateway laptop has a broken key, you will need to replace that key to enjoy the full functionality of your laptop. Replacing a key on your Gateway laptop will require the use of a key replacement kit and a flathead screwdriver. Replacing a key on your Gateway laptop will take you about 15 minutes.

      Use the flathead screwdriver to pry up and remove the broken key.

      Remove the two retainers that belonged to your broken key. The retainers are what hold the key in place on your keyboard. You can remove them with your fingers, or with the flathead screwdriver. They will connect to your laptop via four points located at the corners.

      Insert your new key retainer into the empty slot and make sure all four corners are secured. It will attach the same way your old retainer came out.

      Press your new key into the slot until you hear it snap into place on your retainer.
