How to Set Up Wireless on a Dell Laptop
Using wireless Internet on a computer gives the user the flexibility to be wherever there is a wireless signal without being tied to a modem. You will need a wireless router and a network card on your Dell laptop.

Go to the start menu on your laptop. Select "Control Panel."

Select "Network and Sharing Center" in the control panel menu. From the network menu, select "Set up a New Connection or Network," double-click "Connect to the Internet."

Select "Wireless" on the next screen, find and select the wireless network you want to connect to, click "Connect" and enter the network password provided by the Internet provider.

Select "Network and Internet" in the control panel menu. From the network menu, select "Network and Sharing Center," click, "Set up a connection or network" in the left column, then select "Connect to the Internet."

Tips & Warnings
If the card is internal, there will be a switch or button to activate the wireless card, refer to your owner's manual.
