How to Share a Printer on a Wired Router
Multiple computers on a network in homes and businesses sometimes need to share a printer. This doesn't just save money. There is less space needed as well. It has also been known to save time and boost productivity. When you have a little bit of computer knowledge and follow a few steps, you can set up a network printer.

Install your printer. You want to put your printer onto the network server or domain controller. Go into your control panel to do this. Click on "Printers and Faxes." Use the set up wizard and click on "Add a printer."

Select the"Properties" tab. First right-click on the "New Printer" icon. You can easily find this in the printers and faxes console.Select the "Properties" tab. Click on the tab that says "Sharing." Highlight "Share this printer." Now you choose an identity for the printer. Type the new name into the share name field.

Add any drivers. Some of the other computers on your network may require additional drivers. Simply click on "Additional drivers." From there you will check the box next to the needed driver. Click '"OK."

Install your printer. You must add the printer to the other computers on your network. To do this, simply open the printers and faxes console. You will see where it says "Add printer." Click on that and it will open the installation wizard. From there click "Next." Be sure to choose network printer. Now you click "Next" again.

Highlight "Browse for a printer." Click on "Next." This will show you any available printers. Just highlight the actual printer you want to add and then click "Next."

Finalize your installation. You can do this by clicking on the "Finish" button. Then try sending a page to the printer. This will help you know it is working correctly.
