How to Build an Inexpensive Trophy Case
If you have been recognized with an award, medal or plaque, you might need a place to house and display the honor. You can build your own trophy case with inexpensive materials.
Things You'll Need
- ¾-inch particleboard
- Table saw
- Wood glue
- Clamps
- Power drill
- Screws
- Paint
- Glass case door
- Piano hinge
- Screwdriver

Cut two pieces of particleboard to the height you need the case to be.

Cut two more pieces of particleboard for the top and the bottom pieces of the shelf. If you want shelves in the case, cut an additional piece for each shelf.

Place the two tall pieces of particleboard so they are standing.

Put the top and bottom pieces between the sidess. If you are adding shelves, put them between the standing pieces where you want the shelves to be.

Run wood glue along the sides of each horizontal piece and press the vertical panels against the glue. Use clamps to make sure the pieces are held together securely.

Use a power drill and screws to securely attach the sides to the top and bottom pieces, as well as any shelves.

Paint the case.

Attach a ¾-inch-wide piano hinge along a vertical edge of the door with a screwdriver and screws. The hinge should be placed on the opposite side of where the handle is.

Mount the door onto the case with the screwdriver.

Set the case on a stand or mount it to a wall by drilling through the back of the case.

Tips & Warnings
Find a discarded door at a thrift store and design the case to fit the door for greater savings on this project.
Do not place any trophies in the case until you are sure the paint is dry.
