How to Install Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 5150 Mirror Array

The Dell Dimension 5150 is a desktop computer which ships with the Windows XP operating system. Reinstalling Windows XP to your mirror array RAID configuration is necessary when the system files have become damaged or corrupted through viruses or other system errors. Accomplish this by reinstalling the operating system files from the Windows XP CD that came with the Dell 5150.

Things You'll Need

• Windows XP CD
• RAID driver disk

Instructions

1. Insert the RAID driver disk and Windows XP CD into the PC.

2. Restart the PC. Press any key when prompted to boot from CD.

3. Press "F6" when prompted to install your RAID mirror drivers. Select the drive containing the driver CD to install the necessary files.

4. Press "Enter" at the XP Welcome screen and "F8" to accept the license terms.

5. Highlight the mirror array from the list of available drives and press "Enter" to install XP to the mirror array on your Dell 5150.
