Arobas Music's Guitar Pro is a songwriting and practice utility for composers and other musicians whose primary focus is the guitar. The looping function is used as a songwriting tool and as a practice tool. As a songwriting tool, it helps make the writing process more efficient by looping repetitive parts without the need to cut and paste them. As a practice tool, the looping function is set to speed up slightly with each repetition to help guitarists become accustomed to playing a part at progressively increasing speeds.

Open Guitar Pro and load the song containing the track you want to loop. To load the song, open the "File" menu and select "Open." Locate the file in the browser pop-up and double-click it. Guitar Pro will load the song and display it as it was last saved.

Click on the name of the instrument associated with the track you want to loop in the "Soundboard" section at the bottom of the screen. This will highlight the track and display its notation/tablature sheet in Guitar Pro's arrangement area.

Click on the track's "Solo" button. This will mute all other tracks in the song, causing the selected track to play back alone.

Open the "Edit" menu and choose "Select All" to highlight the entire track in the arrangement area. Alternatively, if you want to loop only a section of the track, click and hold at the point where the section you want to loop begins and drag to the right until the purple selection box encompasses the section.

Open the "Sound" menu and select "Play in Loops/Speed Trainer" or press the "F9" key. The looping tool screen will appear.

Select the "Simple loop" option to loop the selection. If you want to use the "Speed Trainer" function, by which the selected track will start at a user-defined speed and increase in tempo with each repetition, select the "Speed trainer option" then establish playback parameters using the drop-down menus. If you want the looping to play back at half normal speed, select "50%" in the "From" field and set a step increase parameter in the "Step" field. This parameter represent the amount in percent that the track will speed up with each repetition until it reaches 100%.

Click "Play." The track will play back and loop in accordance with the parameters you chose.
