How to Save Music From YouTube
The music playing in videos on YouTube isn't saved on your hard drive. The video only plays in your web browser while you have your Internet connection open. If you want to save the music so that you can play it later on an MP3 player, for example, you'll need to use a website or piece of software that can extract the audio into an audio format, and then save that file on your computer.

Download and install Free YouTube to MP3 Converter (see Resources). Copy the full website address of your YouTube video from the address bar in your web browser. Paste it into the "Input URLS" box in the YouTube to MP3 Converter program. Click the "Download" button in the bottom right. The YouTube video will download as an audio file on your computer's hard drive.

Open the webpage for your Youtube video. Right-click on the address at the top of the site. Select "Copy" from the drop-down menu. Navigate to the main webpage of "ConvertFiles" (see Resources). Click the "Or download it from" option. Paste the YouTube address into the text-box next to that option. Select "MP3" from the drop-down menu. Click "Convert" and then click on the link to the MP3 file to download it.

Go to the website address where your YouTube video is playing. Highlight the web address at the top of the browser and right-click there. Select "copy" from the options that come up. Visit the Zamzar website (see Resources). Click "Download Videos" in the tabs at the top of the page. Paste the YouTube video address into the text-box on the left. Type out your email address in the text-box on the right. Click the "Convert File to" drop-down menu. Select "MP3" from the options there. Click "Convert." Check your email for a message from Zamzar. Click the link in the email to download the MP3.
