How to Use the Calendar Maker in Microsoft Publisher

As part of the Microsoft Office Suite, the Microsoft Publisher program serves as your desktop publishing layout and design tool. Through the software, you've got your own small printing service where you can rely on Publisher's templates for everything from greeting cards to programs to catalogs. If you're interested in creating a quick, at-a-glance calendar to keep track of important meetings and occasions, Publisher can provide that too through its simple calendar template. With a couple of quick clicks, you'll be ready to check your days ahead and stay on track.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Publisher and click "Publications for Print." Click "Calendars" and scroll through the different calendar style options available. The calendar opens in the Publisher workspace.

    • 2

Click the "Color Schemes" link on the "Calendar Options" pane on the left side of the screen. Scroll through the color groups and double-click a section of colors to automatically change the calendar to the new colors.

    • 3

Click the "Font Schemes" link on the pane and scroll through the different font groups. Double-click a group, which will instantly change all of the text on the calendar to the new theme.

    • 4

Right-click an image on the calendar and select "Change Picture." Choose "Clip Art" and type a word or phrase into the "Search for" box and click "Go." Scroll through the results and double-click an image, which appears in its place on the calendar.

    • 5

Click your cursor into a date box on the calendar, such as March 13, and type a reminder, such as "Mom's Birthday." Highlight your words and use the text toolbar at the top of the page to change the words' font, size and color, such as making the words in a bright color so they're easy to see on the page. Repeat to add more notes to the calendar.

    • 6

Click into a date of a holiday or special occasion, such as Oct. 31. Pull down the "Insert" menu, click "Picture" and select "Clip Art." Search for a holiday term, such as "pumpkin," "ghosts" or "Halloween." Scroll through the results, double-click an image and shrink it down to fit the date box on the calendar.

    • 7

Give the calendar a colored backdrop by pulling down the "Format" menu and clicking "Background." Click one of the colored boxes to instantly update the Publisher workspace with the new background color.

    • 8

Pull down the "File" menu and click "Save As," then name the calendar and save it to your computer.
