How to Capture YouTube or Google Videos

There are dozens of different programs that will capture streaming video from sites like YouTube or Google Video, since the process for downloading these videos is essentially the same no matter what software or online conversion program you use. Streaming video is captured simply by reading and exporting the video contents by accessing its URL (web address). Programs like E.M. YouTube Video Downloader and Moyea YouTube FLV Downloader offer free trial downloads of their software, while sites like Zamzar.com will convert YouTube and Google Videos to a number of formats, free of charge.

Instructions

E.M. YouTube Video Downloader

1. Visit E.M. YouTube Video Downloader's download page (see Resources) and click the "Download" button near the top of the page. Wait for your download to finish and double-click the installation ".exe" file to run the program's install process. Agree to the terms of use and open the program.

2. Click the "FLV Downloader" button in the top-left corner of the program's main screen.

3. Open a new tab or window in your Internet browser and navigate to the YouTube or Google Video you want captured. Play the video. (The E.M. program will automatically load the FLV video's icon in the main conversion window).

4. Click the "Convert FLV to Video" button on the left side of the screen. Press the "New Task" icon on the right side of the screen. Select the video file you previously added to E.M.'s main window.

5. Press the "Choose Format" button at the top of the screen and select an output format for your downloaded video. Click the "Convert Now" button in the lower-right of the screen to begin capturing and converting your YouTube or Google Video.

Moyea YouTube FLV Converter

1. Open your web browser and navigate to Moyea YouTube FLV Converter's main page. Click the "Download" button to download a free trial version of the software. Double-click the installation file to run through the installation process, accept the licensing terms and launch the program.

2. Open a new Internet window and visit the YouTube or Google Video page for the video you want to capture.

3. Drag and drop the YouTube video's thumbnail picture directly into Moyea YouTube FLV Converter's main page and wait to be directed to the "New Download" window.

4. Click the "OK" button to download the desired FLV movie.

Zamzar Conversions

1. Open your Internet browser and visit the YouTube or Google Video page with the video you want to capture.

2. Open a new window and visit Zamzar.com. Click the "Download Videos" tab in the middle of the screen.

3. Copy and paste the video's URL into the empty web address field on Zamzar's main page.

4. Select a download format for your converted video from the drop-down output menu.

5. Enter your email address in the appropriate field and click "Convert" to agree to the terms of use and begin the download and conversion process. You may leave Zamzar's main page at any time.

   Wait for your email notification from Zamzar.com, containing the download link for your captured video. Follow the download link to retrieve your YouTube or Google Video.
