Rupees are the official currency of India. The rupee is divided into 100 paise. Bank notes come in nominal values of five, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1,000 rupees. Coins come in nominal values of five, 10, 20, 25 and 50 paise, as well as one, two, five and 10 rupees.

      Look up the current exchange rate between U.S. dollars and Indian rupees (see Resource). As of July 2010, it was one U.S. dollar to 46.6 Indian rupees.

      Multiply the value of change you have by the value of the rupee to find out how many rupees you would have if you exchanged your cents. For example, if you have .73 cents, you would have .73 x 46.6 = 34.018 rupees, or about 34 rupees and 2 paise.

      If $1 is equal to 46.6 rupees, that means 1 cent is equal to 46.6 paise.
