After logging all those hours on your bicycle, it's nice to know how far you rode. Thanks to modern technology, computers exist to measure distance traveled as well as your speed and overall time. There are a number of different bicycle odometers, from wireless sensors for your tire to GPS units.

Instructions

  1. Mounting the Odometer

    • 1

      Attach the odometer mount to the handlebars. Twist any screws into place so the mount is secure. Slide the unit into place on the mount.

      Run the wire down to the front tire on the rear of the front fork, where the front tire is attached to the bike, using cable ties to secure it in place.

      Attach the sensor on the inside of the fork about six inches above the front wheel axle. Attach the spoke magnet to the front tire and make sure the sensor and magnet are properly aligned.

      Check that the computer and sensor work. If you have a wireless computer, make sure that the signal is strong.

      Calibrate the computer to recognize wheel circumference and distance traveled.
