How to Register for No Junk Mail
Junk mail is harmful to the environment. The leaflets, catalogs and magazines you get in the mail are made possible by the destruction of the planet's natural resources. And since most junk mail goes straight into the bin, recycling it requires additional energy. There are several ways to register for no junk mail. It is unlikely that any one or even all of these methods will be entirely successful, but by trying all of them you can significantly reduce the amount of junk mail you receive.

1
Go to the Direct Marketing of Association (DMA) website (see Resources). There are contact details on the site, listed under the heading "Manage your mail." Call or e-mail the DMA to have your address taken off its mailing list.
-
2
Contact Catalog Choice's website (see Resources). Environmentally minded, it will contact catalog companies on your behalf to have your address taken off firms' mailing lists.

3
Put a sign on your mailbox or door specifying "No junk mail." A lot of junk mail is delivered by hand, so it is important you make clear to those delivering it that you do not want any at your home.
