Transferring music from your MP3 player to the computer can be done in a few clicks.

Transferring your MP3s to your computer can be done in a few simple steps. However, there are some files that may not be possible to move due to restrictive copyright laws. If you have purchased the music or downloaded it from CD then there should be no problem getting it from your MP3 player to your laptop.

Step 1

Plug your MP3 player into your computer and wait for the computer to recognize it.

Open up "My Computer." Click "Devices with removable storage." Then click on your MP3 player. There may be a rough picture of it as the icon. It also may say the type of MP3 player it is (i.e. iPod, Sansa, Zen, etc).

Click on the files you want to transfer with your right mouse button and click "Copy."

Step 4

Open the folder you want to put the files in. Right-click and select "Paste." This will put the music files into your folder. You can click on them now and play them.

Step 5

Drag the files if you want to move them but not to copy them. Have both folders open and drag the highlighted files out of the folder of origin and into the destination folder.
