How to Set the Upload Limit in uTorrent
As of 2010, uTorrent is the most popular BitTorrent client due to its small size and versatility. uTorrent also includes a host of advanced features that make torrent file sharing more accessible to a larger audience of users. One concern that arises, though, is the amount of bandwidth uTorrent uses while sharing files. By default, uTorrent is set to allow unlimited upload bandwidth usage. This setting can be changed to a more reasonable limit in the uTorrent settings.
Instructions

1
Open uTorrent from the Windows "Start" menu. It is usually the first program listed at the top of the Windows Start menu, not contained in its own folder.
-
2
Navigate to the uTorrent "Options" menu from the main program interface. Select "Preferences."
-
-
3
Find the "Bandwidth" options from the list on the left side of the Options window. Click to select it.
-
4
Enter a number in the text box beside the "Maximum Upload Rate" field. This number represents the maximum upload rate in kilobytes per second. A reasonable upload limit for a typical home broadband connection would be under 100 kbps.
-
5
Click "OK" to apply the changes, and exit the Options window.
