How to Install AVG

AVG can provide Internet security for your computer.

Installing AVG can provide your computer with the anti-virus protection you desire. AVG offers a range of products that are designed to keep your computer free from spyware and safe from hackers. After making the decision to purchase AVG, it is important to install and configure the program to provide you the optimum protection you need. Whether you chose an AVG product with or without a firewall, the installation steps are similar.

Instructions

1. Access the AVG official website (see Resources).

2. Compare the anti-virus programs available. AVG offers anti-virus protection that includes a firewall, spyware and phishing protection.

3. Choose the product you want to download and click "Buy Now."

4. Fill in your personal and payment information. Click "Continue" to submit your process your order.

5. Download the AVG file. The download should start automatically. If it does not, click on the "Start the download" link.

6. Choose the program's setup language using the drop-down menu, and then click "Next."

7. Check the "I have read the license agreement" box, and then click "Accept" to agree to the terms and conditions of the AVG license agreement. Wait for the installation to continue.

8. Click "Standard Installation" to install the recommended configuration for AVG.

9. Fill in the "User name," "Company Name" and "License number." Check your email for a confirmation email from AVG with the license number. Click "Next."

10. Check the "Install AVG Security Toolbar" box if you want to install the toolbar. If you want to set Yahoo! as your default search engine, check the box next to it. Click "Next."

11. Wait for the installation to complete. Depending on your system, the installer could take up to 15 minutes to complete.

12. Select either "A desktop computer" or "A portable computer" to configure your firewall protection. Click "Next."

13. Provide your email address and check the agreement box if you want to send anonymous information to AVG about your system's security. Click "Finish."

14. Click "Restart Now" to restart your computer and allow AVG to conduct a scan of your system at start-up. You can also choose to restart your system later.
